Since colleges are interested in more than just academics, one of our objectives is to provide our participants with an array of experiences so they will be competitive college applicants. Our Teen Green Party program was developed to introduce our participants to community service through environmental projects.

This unique program provides them with a voice in the community, allows them to develop leadership skills, and teaches them about fundraising and community organization. Most importantly, Discover Green gives them an opportunity to create and implement projects that preserve the environment.

The students involved with Discover Green have a variety of projects underway. The largest is the Teen Green Party with a Purpose –this birthday celebration held monthly involves the planting of native trees, environmental education, green FOOD

and fun.

Other Discover Green projects include:

  • Water conservation demonstration gardens

  • Wildlife habitat/School yard gardens

  • Invasive Species Removal

  • Prairie Restoration

  • Storm drain marking
  • Creek Restoration (remove invasive species, plant native saplings and pick up trash)
  • Eco-inspiration coaches - training youth around the country to host teen green parties

  • Ecoranger camp – day camp for K-2 students to learn about the environment
